Assessment of the Predictors and Mortality in Patients of Acute on Chronic Liver Failure; A Prospective Study

Objective: To evaluate the predictors of short-term mortality in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF). Methodology: This prospective study was conducted at gastroenterology department Asian Institute Medical Sciences Sindh, Pakistan from January 2018 to December 2018. All (ACLF) aged more than 25 years and either gender were included. A complete history obtained including demographic profile specifics on clinical characteristics (jaundice, ascites, gastro-intestinal bleed, grade encephalopathy, records vital parameters etc.). Serum electrolytes, viral serology, autoimmune profile, function tests, serum creatinine, prothrombin time, INR among laboratory tests performed each patient. Results: total 99 studied; their average age 40.90+13.93 years; there a male predominance (73.5%). HCV HBV+HDV most common etiological factors. According frequency organ failure, hepatic 59.8% cases, renal 43.6% CNS 38.5% 41.0% cases had circulatory coagulation 55.6% respiratory seen 17.1% cases. Overall, 30-day rate 61.5%.
